University of Library Studies and Information Technologies
The University of Library Studies and Information Technologies (ULSIT) is an institution with a history of almost 70 years and has been one of the most prestigious universities in Bulgaria for the last 7 years.
ULSIT offers a palette of interesting, diverse and promising specialties - Library Studies and Bibliography, Library Management, Print Communications and Computer Sciences, Information Technologies, Information Brokering, Information Security, Information Collections of Cultural and Historical Heritage, Information Resources of Tourism, Information Technologies in the Judicial Administration, all related to the needs of contemporary society and in 15 bachelor and 27 master programs. The quality of training is guaranteed by highly qualified lecturers who use traditional and modern methods to teach their students both on the university premises and as fieldwork, because the university actively offers a contemporary form of teaching that has proven effective – i.e. learning by doing. Here at ULSIT, a close relationship is established with business and with students who work on real-world tasks and get acquainted with leading companies such as IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Fadata, etc., thus creating excellent conditions for quality education and research.
The university caters for the scientific growth of young people. During their studies, students are provided with real-life opportunities to participate in scientific forums, conferences, seminars and trainings, both nationally and internationally. ULSIT is actively involved in the international professional life. Currently, the University team is working on 6 European and more than 6 national research projects. ULSIT also cooperates internationally with institutions across Europe.
ULSIT is part of university networks, including prestigious universities in Spain, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Germany, France, Switzerland, Russia, Serbia, Montenegro, Turkey, Belarus, etc. The University is a member of IFLA – the International Organization of Library Associations, Liber – the association of European scientific and academic Libraries, ICOM – the International Council of Museums, etc.
